As you may have noticed, I have migrated my personal homepage from a homemade Rails application to Tumblr.
This is extraordinary because, in the past 14 years, it’s first time ever to use a third party blogging tool.
You read it right: this site went live on August 16, 2000. That’s almost 14 years from now.
Basically, the tech stack is: PHP -> Rails -> Tumblr.
I made the decision since I want to focus on content, instead of firing VIM, tweaking every pixel and fighting with browser compabilities (screw you IE).
To migrate, I actually wrote a Ruby script. The script scans each post on my old blog, finds images, uploads them to Flickr, replaces links back, and eventually posts to Tumblr.
