I’ve been working on Taste Library for some time. It’s a web app that lets you manage and show off your collection. Here is what it looks like:

The main inspiration behind Taste Library is Delicious Library, a legendary Mac app released about 20 years ago. If you’re not familiar with it, it helps you manage books, music, movies, games, etc.

One of the most distinct features of Delicious Library is its design. It was so well crafted that it helped inspire what became known as the “Delicious Generation”, a wave of Mac apps famous for their pixel-perfect and fun designs.

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I always wanted to have a web version of Delicious Library where I could not only manage my collection, but also show it to others, hoping to spark some fun and meaningful conversations with people who happen to have similar tastes.

I also wanted Taste Library to carry some of that spirit. I don’t want it to feel like another generic database app. I want it to feel visual, playful, and enjoyable to browse.

I’ve set up a website at tastelibrary.app, where you can learn more about the features or play with the demo library.

In terms of pricing, Taste Library is a subscription-based web app: $4.99 per month, or $49.99 per year at the regular price.

Taste Library is still in development, and I’m looking for its first 200 supporters. You can support the project by pre-ordering your first year of Pro for $24.99, half the regular annual price. I’m aiming to launch in October or November 2026. If Taste Library doesn’t launch, or if I have to cancel the project, you’ll receive a full refund.

I know a lot of people would prefer a one-time purchase. I’m very well aware of that. Unfortunately, it’s just not viable for me to maintain a web app like this with one-time payments. Apart from the obvious server costs, I also need to pay for metadata APIs and LLM usage, for example when Taste Library analyzes user-uploaded photos to identify items being added to the library.

To be honest, I hope enough people will pay for Taste Library so that I can work on it full time.
